IBL
Soon To Announce Big Changes
For 2009 Spring Season!

"The first year for the IBL was indeed a learning year which will greatly help the future of the league dramatically." Said IBL Commissioner Steve Fossum. "What some may see as setbacks and failures, we see as great lessons for the future that will only make the league stronger in the future."

The future is something the IBL surly has on its side right now. Sadly, this was not the case for the first ever Team Fight league, the IFL (International Fight League, www.IFL.tv) Due to the fact that it was a publicly traded company, the IFL had to have it's books open to the public which saw many looking at it as a losing company due to the much needed start-up costs. Public opinion wanted to see overnight success instead of a slow build. In the end, that "We want it now" attitude along with a few other not so good decisions brought the IFL to it's knees. However, instead of going out gracefully, those in charge in the end choose to "Make-up" stories about those who were there in the beginning, blaming them for the failure. Ending CEO Jay Larkin and his staff implemented changes that could have helped but also took away some of the best parts that made the IFL what it was. In the end, Larkin's proposed changes were too little, too late and all that was left of the Dream of founders Kurt Otto and Gareb Shamus was a website... www.IFL.tv

Seeing the IFL go down slowly and the way it happened has helped the IBL remain focused and not lose site of its goals. The IBL has the pleasure of being able to learn first, succeed second, a formula that happened for the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship - www.UFC.com) For years the UFC lost millions of dollars until landing a major TV Deal with Spike TV only a few short years ago. The deal was a blessing for EVERYONE in MMA so love them or hate them, Everyone in the MMA industry owes the UFC a lot for that deal!

From the looks of what everyone in the IBL learned during the opening year, and what they plan to change for year two, it's clear the IBL will be around for a long time.

It looks like later this week the IBL will be announcing some major changes to the new Amateur fight league. Among them will be the introduction of a "Split Team" League for the season where Teams will have choices between owning a Team with more Experienced fighters of more than 3 fights or a Novice Team with fighters with 3 fights or less.

Some of the other changes include a mixed weightclass roster and less number of fighters per team. The IBL is also considering a Woman's slot for each event as well.

The 2008 IBL season started strong with 12 Teams but faced many setbacks when Teams could not fill their roster with enough fighters or find enough fighter's with enough experience to compete competitively with some of the other Teams' Rosters. Some of the other issues that hurt the 2008 Season was event scheduling. When it was all said and done, the KC CAGE MONSTER'S of Overland Park, Kansas became the quiet but first IBL Champions.

With the new changes the 2009 IBL Teams will have an easier time finding talent and making matches at each of the League Events. Probably the best news of all will be the reduction of Team Fees for the 2009 Season. From what we have been told, the fees will drop from $1,500 per Team to somewhere around $500 for an IBL Novice Team and $800-$1,000 for an IBL Open Team.

The 2009 IBL Season will begin in February and the schedule and Teams should be announced sometime in December, 2008. If you are interested in an IBL Team for the 2009 Season, please contact the IBL directly. For their contacts page, click HERE.

Due to the IBL schedule, the ISCF MMA World Classic Amateur MMA Championships will be moved to the Fall of 2009.

IBL Kansas City Rained OUT!

what was hoped to be the beginning of the IBL ended in a wet night. IBL Promoter John Scredich made a risky decision and planned the opener as an outdoor event. However, a freak Midwest rainstorm came through the area and forced ISCF and IBL Officials to cancel the event for the safety of the fighters. "The cage had a vinyl canvas and even the least amount of moisture would have made the cage surface too slick to fight on." Said IBL Vice President of Operations Steve Crawford.

Plans were immediately announced to move the event to this weekend, but after discussions with the teams involved, all agreed to simply move their schedules around and reschedule the first Central Division event. That schedule adjustment will be announced soon here on the news page.

In the mean time, IBL East Coast Director Lionell Royer is getting things squared away for the first IBL Eastern Division event which will take place on September 26th at the Best Western / Lee Jackson, 711 Millwood Avenue, Winchester, Virginia. For more info on this IBL League event go to www.vflmma.com

IBL
Will Have A
FALL SEASON!

With the approval of all the current IBL Teams, the IBL has postponed the start of the league until this fall, 2008. In early August the IBL Teams and several top IBL League officials will be meeting in Kansas City, Kansas at one of the Leagues' sponsor headquarters, Combat Sports International to appoint top IBL League Leaders as the IBL League prepares for the initial kick off of the actual IBL Season.

Placing the IBL Season in the Fall will work much better since it will not conflict with busy spring schedules of the Teams regular promotions. In addition, the Fall time schedule will help the League office more in regards to the much needed focus of the IBL League. This is because the IBL Head Office is also located within the offices of International Fight Sports (IFS, www.IFightSports.com ), the parent company of the IBL as well as the ISCF MMA - IKF Kickboxing and several other Fight Sport Companies.

The IFS and IKF Kickboxing just completed their 10th successful year of the IKF Kickboxing World Classic Tournament in Orlando, Florida with 227 Fighters competing from around the world. Now the IFS has the time, manpower and resources to re-focus back on the work needed for the IBL.

Over the last couple of months the IBL has confirmed that former IFL Vice President of Operations Keith Evans will be on board as a consultant to the IBL League. Evans' roll may expand more as the IBL League moves forward but no confirmation of this has been made as of yet.

IBL East Coast Director Lionell Royer has also confirmed he will be doing an IBL "Pre Season" event towards the end of summer to get his team and other East Coast IBL Teams back into the excitement of the IBL League. Excitement which may have been dulled a little by the rescheduling of the start of the season. In the mean time, it's "Forward March" for all of us associated with the IBL and before we know it, it will be time to...

Maryland's Mixed Martial Arts Team
By Jordan Bartel | July 9, 2008 at 10:00

No one flinches.

Sharp jabs, landing inches from fighters' faces, are fired in rapid succession. Pop. Pop. Pop. There are body pivots and more jabs followed by drops of sweat. For 30 seconds at a time for 30 minutes, fighters switch between being on the offensive and defensive. The jabs are unrelenting, fast, unnerving. Yet no one flinches.

John "Bones" Shaddock stands in the middle of two pairs of fighters exchanging blows. As he barks orders — "Hit there!" "Hands up!" — Shaddock watches every move. "Come on!" he yells. "It's like you're 100 feet apart." This is a drill; the punches aren't supposed to connect. Yet gloves graze ears and noses and heads. At the end of the exercises, the fighters stare at each other, ease their gloves down and smile. "Now switch! Keep it up."

These are the Baltimore Renegades, and they're treading new ground in Maryland as the first organized, competitive mixed martial arts team in the state. The team is based at Gaijin Ryu Dojo in Sykesville. Founded by Shaddock and partner Lee Epperson, the school teaches a form of jiu-jitsu that blends Brazilian and Japanese techniques.

MMA combines boxing, wrestling, muy thai and jiu-jitsu. The U.S.-based Ultimate Fighting Championship circuit has made household names of fierce fighters, such as Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture, and brings in big pay-per-view ratings. It has also become increasingly mainstream, launching reality shows ("The Ultimate Fighter"). UFC competitor EliteXC is now featured on CBS' "Saturday Night Fights."

The Baltimore Renegades, are part of the International Battle League , or IBL, the only Maryland team on its roster. They still can't compete in the state. In May, Gov. Martin O'Malley signed a bill legalizing MMA matches in Maryland — joining 32 other states — and bouts can start in 2009. Until then, the team is looking to fight in Virginia, D.C. or Delaware, perhaps as early as this month.

The team has filled slots for all 12 team members — two fighters, including one alternate, make up six weight classes. Team members have to be 18 years old. Shaddock, 40, is one of the alternates. He started wrestling at 3 years old and by high school was an award-winning boxer. He's also been a runner-up in a Golden Gloves tournament and a Toughman semi-finalist. His nickname, "Bones," is a bit deceiving. It's not that he breaks them — when he started fighting competitively he was skinny.

"I'm learning about the sport, too, as we go along," he says. "There's just so much to it. But what it really takes is dedication, smarts. And none of my guys are quitters."

Teammate Seth Greenberg certainly isn't a quitter, despite sitting out of a recent practice with a shoulder injury. He also broke his nose at try-outs. The 20-year-old has always been interested in cage fighting. "There's never been a place close to home to do it," says Greenberg, who lives in Reisterstown and works at a convenience store. "Some of my friends think [MMA] is cool. Others are like, 'And I thought I did some crazy stuff.'" But there's a science to this sport, called human cockfighting by some. Every hand placement, the position of every jab, matters in takedowns, knockouts or submissions.

"It's like a chess game," says Renegades team member Zach "White Knight" Keim, 23. "Every move has a purpose."

Shaddock has enlisted his brother Scott to help with wrestling techniques. The practice is evenly divided between working on takedowns and sparring exercises, and all this after an hour of boxing practice. By 7:30 p.m., the end of the boxing portion, the fighters are often out of breath, their shirts soaked with sweat. Shaddock's sister-in-law and her kids stop by as the guys glove up for sparring. His young niece, sporting a princess crown, runs alongside the mat to use the bathroom in the back. Then Shaddock gives a typical tough love pep talk. "A lot of guys are uncomfortable in striking position," he says. "You gotta get used to takin' hits."

The fighters love this stuff. Nick Wolcott, 17, won't be able to compete until he turns 18 in February. Raised on "Rambo" movies, he likes the combative essence of MMA. "It's fun. You can't be scared of getting hurt," says Wolcott, who lives in Woodbine. "It's like football — do you go out on the field squirming?" Keim nods in agreement as he takes out his mouth guard and places it behind his left ear. "It's just real — real as it's going to get to street fighting," he says. "It's almost like a primal thing."

So-Cal Fighting Stallions
Are FIRST To Post Team Roster

Eager as everyone else, Juan Bustamante and his So-Cal Fighting Stallions are the first IBL Team to submit their full starting line-up with one alternate. As we have said, each Team only has to field a starting line-up and the Teams Alternates are optional. To see the So-Cal Fighting Stallions Team Page, Click HERE!

SEASON START: The other Teams are either finalizing their Rosters or scheduling tryouts for Team members. All the IBL Teams have made the decision to begin the first IBL season around the first part of July instead on during June.

Several things have been credited to the delayed start of the season. The main issue is the IBL has no desire to RUSH into the first Season, as successful as the League has been so far. One of those surprises was the addition of the Western Conference which will now Give the first IBL's Season FOUR Conferences with "16" Teams!

The other issue is the behind the scenes work the IBL Staff is doing in creating a new marketing package for all the IBL Teams with the addition of the newly formed Western Conference. also holding things up is the groundwork the IBL staff is doing for the eventual IBL Pro Teams. The current IBL Amateur Teams/League will be a direct feeder League to the IBL Pro League which makes the IBL the first ever MMA League to even suggest such an idea, let alone do it.

With all this going on, another idea came into play where there may now also be a slight change in the Final Championship event. There is now a possibility of making it two separate events rather than just one event where the first two winning Teams Battle it out for the Championship that same night.

Splitting the "Final Four" and the actual "IBLChampionship Event" into two events will give the final two teams a 30 day rest before the "IBLChampionship Event." It will also be a better production for potential TV for the league as well. A Championship event could be tied in with other prelim bouts before the Championship Bouts. More on this soon...However for now,

IBL To Have A
WESTERN CONFERENCE
After All!

Last week we announced the interest from a potential California IBL Team. Well, things have been moving fast since that post was made last week and the reality is, "There WILL be an IBL Western Conference!"

Today the IBL spoke to Erwin Swetnam in Idaho who has committed to an IBL Team out of Idaho.

"Thanks again for the opportunity to let TEAM IDAHO ELITE compete in the IBL. We are excited and looking forward to the challenge. Battle On!" Said Swetnam.

The "Idaho Elite" will be based out of Boise Idaho but will feature fighters from throughout the State and possibly outside the state. It is planned now that "Idaho Elite" will now align with the "So-Cal Fighting Stallions" as well as possibly Jason Carley's "Laramie Landminds" out of Laramie, Wyoming. Although it may seem like a long drive for Carley's Team to Southern California, the reality is, Amateur MMA is still not legal in California so at least 3 of the 4 Western Conference events will be held in Idaho and Wyoming. If a Nevada, Arizona or New Mexico IBL Team fills the 4th slot for the Western Conference, the 4th season event could be held in one of those other states.

Swetnam is associated with the ISCF Sanctioned Promotion, "Ultimate Northwest Fighting Championship" (UNFC) who will be hosting another ISCF Sanctioned event at the Eldon Evans Expo Center in Twin Falls, Idaho, USA this coming June 7th. The UNFC is operated by Jeremy Burtch, Nate Petit and Ray Peralez. who may also have interest in the new "Idaho Elite" IBL Team.

Although the "Laramie Landminds" and the "Idaho Elite" will have their own home venues, the So-Cal Fighting Stallions will still need help with their home venue due to the fact that Amateur MMA is not legal in California. As previously mentioned, the So-Cal Fighting Stallions are willing to pack up and travel to meet up in the ring with whomever their competition is. The good side for them is now they may not need to travel all the way to Missouri for their events.

Now the IBL will be adding two different teams to the Central Conference. Already IBL Director of Operations Steve Crawford has some Teams ready to add to the Central Conference so the change will not be a big issue since the season won't be starting until late June now.

As many here know, PASSION drives individuals to succeed. However, without that Passion towards something you are working on, the fire soon dies. So is the story with Jay Larkin's recent leadership role with the IFL, - International Fight League. Larkin was billed as the Knight on the big white horse who was going to ride the IFL to the top. Instead, he has been coasting down hill wondering "What's up?"

Larkin has plenty of accomplishments to his name. Over 20 years at media giant Showtime with claims of rising to become one of the most powerful deal makers in sports and entertainment during his storied career. He created countless entertainment specials involving stars ranging from Dave Chappelle, Britney Spears, The Spice Girls and Jay-Z to legends like Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones among others for the network and pay per view.

During that time Larkin also oversaw the channel's entrance into boxing, beginning in 1986 with Marvelous Marvin Hagler's middleweight title defense against John Mugabi, thus creating the powerhouse Showtime Championship Boxing. He negotiated the deals and was the executive producer of some of boxing's most legendary matchups of the last quarter century, including numerous Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Julio Cesar Chavez fights. Larkin also was one of the key negotiators for what was the biggest money fight in history, the 2002 heavyweight championship bout between Lennox Lewis and Tyson that happened because of a landmark deal between Showtime (Tyson's network) and rival HBO (Lewis' network). Just before leaving Showtime, Larkin put together Ricky Hatton vs. Kostya Tszyu and Joe Calzaghe vs. Jeff Lacy, two career-changing events for both Hatton and Calzaghe. Just prior to joining the IFL, he completed negotiations for the upcoming blockbuster match of Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler for HBO and Sports Network.

So what has he done for the IFL?
That is where the problem is...And that problem is Passion, or lack of it in Larkin's case towards MMA as a Sport!

The ISCF's services were not needed this year since the IFL events were only in states where Boxing Commissions ran the show. However, this was not a negative to the ISCF. The ISCF had a very successful relationship with the IFL and made some great relationships with many in the IFL. Those relationships formed from the ISCF were transferred over to the founding of the IBL where it was made clear that the IBL was not another PRO FIGHT creation of competition vs the IFL. In fact, even without the PRO tie in, the IBL's stricture is VERY Different than the structure of the IFL.

It's no secret that Larkin only saw the usual MMA $$ signs when he took over the IFL Helm as CEO. However, what the Boxing Fan Larkin did not have was PASSION for MMA and without Passion, you can't sell what you do. This was Larkin's main problem. Sure he saved the IFL tons of money by cutting tons of people out and changing the TEAM structure of the League. However, no matter what he did, he just wasn't an MMA fan. This lack of Passion for the sport showed more often than not to those he tried to sell the IFL to and without sponsors, TV or no TV, it's hard to make it in the "Big Leagues" where IFL Founder Kurt Otto and his crew took the IFL in just 1 year. Otto and his team PROVED what PASSION could do and in less than a year, Larkin has proved what lack of it can do also...

As the founder of the IFL, Kurt Otto had passion! Otto DID Care about the teams, the fighters, the IBL and more so, MMA as a Sport! That Passion came from his background for the sport which has been life long. He began training in the martial arts at age seven, and continued throughout his high school and college years, competing in full contact Tae Kwon Do (he is a second degree blackbelt) and kickboxing, as well as being a highly competitive wrestler.

That PASSION Otto showed is something Larkin has never shown, not even to the press when talking about the IFL. Without that much needed passion, Larkin has done little to sell the IFL as a mainstream MMA League. In fact, he has even made comments such as "Only UFC is making money in MMA, no one else." Well Mr. Larkin, tell that to those we work with, or those successful organizations such as Strikeforce, Elite XC, and many others pulling down million dollar event gates. MMA is still growing, and all Larkin had to do was "Believe in it as a Sport."

MMA has not even come close to it's peak and the sport is STILL Exploding! When the IBL was first formed, Commissioner Steve Fossum (Right) and Director of Operations, Steve Crawford (Right) made clear that their loyalty to the IFL would keep them from creating a PRO Structured TEAM Fight League. Although we cannot talk about some of the inside scoop as of yet, what if we shared with you today some scoop that may open the doors WIDE OPEN for the IBL to add in a full PRO MMA Team League that it's Amateur league would feed directly in to? Well Fight Fans, lets just say. "Things are in the works!"

Let us just say that those loyal ties with the IFL from those in the ISCF and IBL were never with Larkin... or his lack of Passion for MMA. Those loyal ties were to those the ISCF and IBL saw as Passionate Promoters of MMA. From Kurt Otto to the guy who set up their outstanding fight ring, Willie Faircloth, those loyal relationships were with those who "Made things happen!"

Two people that come to mind the most are Keith Evans and Lisa Faircloth. Together these two laterally BUILT the "Working Structure" for the IFL's Event success. They did not have a play in the "Spending" part of the company, but in their jobs, they brought SUCCESS to the IFL. without them, those IFL events we saw would have been a disorganized mess! As Director of Events, Lisa Faircloth took the bull by the horns and simply put, "MADE THINGS HAPPEN!"

Another individual who was a CLASS ACT, yet no surprise to anyone here is the IFL's Vice President of Fighter Operations, Bas Rutten. No matter where he was, what he was doing, Bas had time for ANYONE! To us, he was the TRUE Ambassador of MMA and is one of the most colorful and well-respected personalities in all of the MMA world. Bas competed professionally for over 20 years in various MMA disciplines, and was a three time champion in Pancrase (the Japanese precursor to what is now MMA) as well as holding the UFC heavyweight division title.

His first role with the IFL was as head coach of the Los Angeles-based Anacondas. He then moved into the broadcast booth, co-hosting of the popular "IFL Battleground" program, while also serving as ambassador for the league and the sport in general. In addition to the broadcasting role, he was named Vice President, Fighter Operations in January 2008.

Keith Evans was the IFL's Vice President of Operations. Their backgrounds did not start with the IFL. They were directly responsible for a lot of the growth and development of the UFC, Ultimate Fight Championship, before being offered a position at the IFL.

Evans and Faircloth joined the IFL in January of 2006 from the UFC, where they spent several years helping orchestrate the re-branding and growth of the UFC. While there he handled a variety of duties, many of which he has had a hand in with the IFL as well such as logistical issues. He played a key day to day role in the success of over 30 live UFC events, overseeing information technology, website, merchandise, and sponsorships, as well as serving as business development liaison with UFC licensees. Simply put, Keith, like Lisa, "MADE THINGS HAPPEN!"

So what is this all about? Well, lets just say that the IFL's loss may be the IBL's gain. What does that mean exactly? What did the IFL lose? Well sorry, but we can't shed a lot of light on it right now, but we will soon. We have given enough insight away for now and if you put it all together, you should be able to come to your own potential conclusion. With that being said, we have to get back to work, and we suggest you all do the same, so...

OK... A Little More Info On The Story Above

IFL CEO Jay Larkin has made one of his worst decisions since taking over the IFL. This week he let go Keith Evans, IFL VP of Operations, and Lisa Faircloth, Director of Events and to "Save Money" he closed down the IFL's Las Vegas office which handled the bulk of event operations and includes tasks like signing fighters and organizing live events. However, this cost cut may be to Larkin's own throat.

Both Evans and Faircloth are former Zuffa employees and were essential to the IFL putting on a strong event any time in the coming months. A VP of Operations isn't so easily replaced, especially an experienced veteran of the MMA wars like Evans. Faircloth held together much of the Vegas staff, and her departure is said to have other IFL Operations employees sending out resumes as fast as they can print them off.

This could be a sign that the IFL is considering drastically scaling back their live event operations in the near future. If that's the case, it makes you wonder what the IFL's plan is over the long term. It seems as if they may be counting on finding a buyer soon, and are content to wait it out without losing any more money on events in the meantime.

The questions now are, who is next? Bas Rutten?

Did UFC Hurt The IFL?

Read for yourself how Dana White made it his mission to destroy them with threats to well known MMA stars like Pat Miletich, Ken Shamrock and Matt Hughes. Don't take our word for it, just click HERE.

RE: UFC Lawsuit against the IFL:
From Pat Miletich's sworn statement that Miletich gave in the UFC-IFL court case, according to the public records.
"Knowing Mr. White the way I do, I can honestly say that Zuffa's intent is bringing this litigation has nothing to do with protecting any confidential information. Rather, I believe this litigation is about one thing and one thing only -- stamping out legitimate and, indeed, healthy, competition."

Is The West Coast Ready To
"Walk The Walk"
In The IBL?

The So-Cal Fighting Stallions Are... Who's Next?

While several others have been talking about it, there is one Team out of Southern California ready to commit to be a part of the IBL. So ready are the "So-Cal Fighting Stallions" that they have informed the IBL they are willing to snatch up the lone remaining slot in the Central Conference.

"Were excited to be able to get a chance to be in your organization!" Said Team member Juan Bustamante.

the So-Cal Fighting Stallions are well aware that Amateur MMA is not legal in California. However, they are so excited about the IBL, they are willing to pack up and travel to meet up in the ring with the other three IBL Central Conference Teams. They are also aware that such a scenario means they would need to have their Home Venue in the Central Conference region. Bustamante has agreed to have Kansas City, Missouri as their home venue city even though their home state and representation is in Southern California.

"A much better scenario of course would be to have closer teams for them." Said IBL Commissioner Steve Fossum. "However, we can't force a Team to join of course."

The IBL has had Western interest from several California Teams, two Nevada Teams, an Idaho Team and Arizona. However, "Talk is Talk" and as of this moment, only Bustamante's team is willing to "Walk The Walk" and be a part of the first IBL season. If all goes as planned, Bustamante and hisSo-Cal Fighting Stallions team will officially join the IBL by the end of next week and "Walk The Walk" with the Central Conference. However, if any other West Coast Teams (3 more) are willing and able to "Step Up" and field a Team, we may see some West Coast IBL Action after all!

"The BATTLES Are About To Begin!"

As June quickly approaches, several IBL Teams have asked for the 2008 Inaugural IBL Season Opener to be pushed back a couple of weeks from the proposed June 14th start date. Several reasons may allow such a postponed start date. Some of the IBL Teams are still completing their IBL Team Rosters and two Conferences (Central and Northern) are awaiting the confirmation of their 4th IBL Conference Team. Added up, the first IBL season will begin with "12" Teams in Three Conferences. Well beyond the proposed 6-10 Teams the IBL was hoping for in opening projections of the League.

As we approach the beginning of the first season, several potential California IBL Teams are still looking for a way to be a part of Season 1. As many here know, Amateur MMA is still not legal in California and our sources tell us that due to money and politics, we may be a ways away from seeing the first legal Amateur MMA event in California... like 2009...

Regardless, several potential California IBL Teams say they can confirm hosting venues if given the opportunity. The main problem may be in fielding "4" Teams to fill an entire Western Conference, or will the IBL allow a conference to begin the first Season with less then 4 Teams?

It may be fine if the IBL adds in a Western Conference with only 2 Teams. The only problem with such a scenario though would be the two teams would compete against each other "4" times in the course of the Season, something the IBL is not too excited about.

In a 4 Team Conference as the case will be for the already existing Central, Northern and Eastern Conferences, each Team will compete against a different Team on the first 3 scheduled IBL events. On the 4th IBL event, all 4 Conference Teams will meet and each weightclass will hold a Hat Draw to determine the fights in open competition with win points going towards the winning fighters Team.

The Calm Before The Storm...

Steve Fossum

Steve Crawford

Lionell Royer

Jeff Stark, Special To The IBL:
Things may look calm and quiet on the IBL News page but we have been assured that there is plenty going on at IBL Central before the Thunder and Lightning of Season 1 begins! The IBL had hoped for 6-10 Teams for the opening season but to their surprise, the League now has 10 Teams with a minimum of 2 more to soon be added to the Central 1 and yet another to the East 2 giving the League 13 Teams. However, the League still hopes to fill the remaining 3 Western Division Team slots before the June start date of Season 1.

We caught up with IBL President and founder Steve Fossum (Left) today in San Jose, CA while attending a California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) meeting and except for California, things look promising for the young IBL's future. Delays with the CSAC in approving Amateur MMA have all but halted any hopes for the IBL to field any California Teams for the Leagues Western Division. Today's Rules Meeting with other California promoters and officials exposed that the best case scenario for Amateur MMA to be approved in California would not be until at least December of this year. "It was disappointing to hear that it will take this long for Amateur MMA to be approved." said Fossum. "This just means another year of opportunity missed for amateur MMA fighters unless they throw the towel in and turn pro, which in itself is not the best choice for any beginning fighter."

The IBL has had some interest for Teams in Idaho, Wyoming and New Mexico, but all have been skeptical to commit to the League for the first season. The reluctance for these interested and potential IBL Teams to start the first IBL season with the others will end up costing them more in Season 2 and beyond if they want to enter the League. All first season IBL Teams for 2008 received a $1,000 discount because the IBL found a sponsor willing to pay the first $1,000 for each first year Team. So, instead of the 2008 IBL Team ownership fee being $2,500 as planned, each 2008 IBL Team only pays $1,500.00. As the League grows each year, those first year 2008 IBL Teams will always be given a lower Season fee than the 2009 Team's and beyond. How much of a discount will be determined each year as the value of the league increases for all involved.

Surprisingly, Stock Analyst have been in contact with the IBL due to the structure and have voiced excitement for the League. These analyst say that if the IBL is successful in just it's first year that the market value of an IBL Team could be worth as much as $5,000 to $10,000 per Team. The IBL's success will be measured by the crowds at their events as well as the fan base by the time the League has their "Final 4 Championship Event" which will be followed by the Leagues "All Star Grand Prix." Both of the final two season events have drawn the attention of several TV stations but as of yet, no contracts have been confirmed.

Success in additional years with the IBL will factor on many things. Of course the attainment of additional sponsorship will increase the worth for not only the League, but the Team Owners too as the IBL plans to share additional sponsorship revenue with them as well. If the IBL doesn't attain any TV deal, it certainly won't be the end of the world. The IBL never had any plans to attain any such TV deals in Season 1 and have not held any expectations for it in Season 2 either. However, the League has been passing all expectations so far and Season 1 is still over 2 months away.

Even without any of these things in place, the IBL has already been approached by several corporations asking if they will sell the league to them. However Fossum said he and those involved have no such plans because their goal is to assure the IBL is a success before even considering any such idea.

"We have been blessed with the association of great people." Said Fossum. "I can't tell you the appreciation as well as pride I have personally to work with those who are as excited as I have been about the IBL. People like Steve Crawford (Left, Vice President of IBL Operations) are 'Priceless' to come by and his hard work and leadership has been a driving force behind the success of the IBL. Add in the work of the many others in bringing other IBL Teams on board such as Eastern Conference Director Lionell Royer (BLeft) and you can understand why our excitement is matched with our confidence in the success of our upcoming Season 1."

The IBL does have plans to have exposure through both live and delayed internet events but with who is still undecided. They have been approached by over a dozen MMA Internet sites eager to air the IBL events but TV and internet are just tips of the iceberg for the IBL's marketing plan. They will soon announce several partnerships with MMA websites and magazines as media partners who will cover the many IBL events for Season 1. IBL merchandise is yet another form of marketing the league as well as the Leagues plans for advertising on other web sites and fight sport magazines. These and many other things could easily double the value of not just the IBL, but each of the Team Owners.

The great advantage of the IBL as compared to other MMA groups is that not only will the IBL assist in making successful and greatly valued Team Ownership, but in addition, the League will be a great marketing tool for Amateur MMA fighters looking for more high class exposure before turning Professional. Because of this, the IBL has already been approached by several potential investors asking the IBL if they are interested in taking the "Team Owned" concept to the Professional level. However, as of this time, the IBL has their focus on the Amateurs and the idea of a Pro League is far down the line. "We don't want the IFL (International Fight League) to feel we are taking their idea." Said Fossum. "However, as the concept of the IFL has been changing, our Team owned concept for pros may not interfere with their goals and desires at all. Still, our focus for now is on the Amateurs and we want to help build experienced and well rounded Amateur MMA fighters for all the great Pro events such as the IFL, UFC, Strikeforce, Elite XC just to name a few."

Whatever the IBL's plans are for Pros is irrelevant at this time. Right now their attention is on Season 1 and if you have any desire to get on board for Season 1, we suggest you skip over to the IBL's Ownership Page and get going. If you miss season 1, you may regret it for a long time!

If Season 1 continues as the first few months have, the IBL may not need to look to those so called "Great Pro Events" because they may very well be, "The" MMA event of the future for both Amateurs and Pros. Whatever the case, it's clear to many that what we are seeing now is the "The Calm Before The Storm..." and I for one can't wait until the Thunder and Lightning begin this June. As they say in the IBL,

IBL
Opening Kick-Off Date
CHANGED

The ISCF (International Sport Combat Federation ) has had a high number of requests from Amateur MMA Fighters torn between fighting for their IBL Team on Saturday night of the ISCF MMA World Classic or competing in the actual Tournament at the ISCF MMA World Classic (May 2nd, 3rd & 4th) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The problem is, due to safety issues, fighter's can't do both.

A lot of "OPEN" Division fighters were being asked to represent their IBL Team at the Tournament in the inaugural IBL Kick Off event that was planned to take place on Saturday night of the Tournament. However, this plan has now been changed so that the Open Class fighter's can instead fight for the $1,500 ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament Belts.

"We were surprised about the numbers of Open Division fighters who brought up this valid and justifiable issue." Said ISCF President Steve Fossum. "They wanted a chance to win the top belt in Amateur MMA but also wanted to represent their IBL Team in the Opening IBL Event on Saturday night. We believe this is a smart move for both the IBL and the ISCF. It will give us a better opportunity to focus on the IBL Kick Off event as it's own event and allow more experienced Amateur MMA Fighters a chance to fight for the ISCF World Classic Belt."

The IBL "Kick-Off" Event will now take place in Kansas City with a venue yet to be announced. The proposed IBL "Kick-Off" date has now been moved to the first week in April, either the weekend of April 4th or April 11th. Four IBL Teams will still "Kick-Off" the Season but it is yet to be confirmed exactly which Teams now will be a part of the IBL "Kick-Off"

The IBL "Kick-Off" event is an event the IBL will be filming to produce a marketing DVD to help IBL Team owners attain season sponsorship as well as a way to market the IBL overall. The actual IBL Season is still scheduled to begin the first week in June. For more info on the ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament Click HERE.

IBL
Season Schedules Being Made

IBL Team owner Art Sylmar of Virginia is ready and excited to host the first IBL Season event for the Eastern Region this June at the George Mason University Freedom Aquatic Center. Sylmar already has the date of June 14th, 2008 set and ready to do Battle! "Everyone here is already going crazy trying to get tickets in advance!" Says Sylmar. "It should be an awesome show."

However, before his IBL event, Sylmar has to focus on hie upcoming March 22nd show that is just around the corner. His March event will have an IBL tie in as well. Sylmar will be making special match-ups on this event to determine several Team members of his IBL Team for the 2008 season. The show is entitled "OPERATION OCTAGON II" - "THE CRUCIBLE" and will take place at the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas, Virginia, USA. For more info go to www.OperationOctagon.com

Over the next few weeks the ISCF and IBL will work with the various IBL Promoters in creating the 2008 IBL Season Schedule.

FIRST IBL TEAM LOGO

Things are pretty busy here today at IBL HQ! We already have our first IBL Team Logo sent in for the, "Cage Monsters" of Kansas City.

Our goal was to have 8 Teams in year 1 which would be a great start to the League. As of today we have our 8 teams and another 4 ready to confirm over the next few days. So many are wondering if we will extend the Team registration deadline or are we good with what we have. In regards to that, as of today we have received 17 requests from people asking us to extend our deadline. Not saying all 17 will be jumping in with Teams because some were calling on behalf of the same potential teams.

According to plans, the IBL League will not officially begin until the first week of June. A kick-off IBL Event will happen at this years 2008 ISCF MMA World Classic in May at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At the Tournament, 4 IBL Teams will showcase what an IBL League event will look like. our desire is to film this event to attain highlight footage for future IBL ads, commercials, and sponsorship requests packages that will all be given to the IBL Team Owners to help them attain Team funding for expenses such as travel fees, uniforms and other Team expenses.

The reason the IBL wanted to get an official Team count by March 1st is because they need to know how many Teams will be in each division and how many IBL Fight events there will be for the Season. Although March 1st is 3 months before the League begins what people don't realize is schedules need to be made, organized with each Teams availability booking of their home venue. League paperwork needs to be created, press releases and other media sources. The IBL needs this information for potential sponsors, TV groups, and many other items that require the knowledge of "WHAT" exactly IS the IBL.

Having said all that, if there is anyone still wanting to get in on the ground floor of the first IBL Season in purchasing an IBL Team, we will allow some late registration requests. However, this too will have a time limit which will be announced next week. If you are thinking of having an IBL Team, we suggest you e-mail one of the and ask for a time extension. For the rest of you who are already in, we welcome you to the IBL Family and look forward to seeing you all...

Anonymous Sponsor Steps In
To Aid IBL Team Owners

This news will excite all potential IBL Team Owners.
As some here know, last week, the ISCF stepped in to sponsor IBL Team Owners who are also ISCF Promoters. The ISCF stepped up and offered to pay $1,000 of each Teams Registration Fees to the IBL for all ISCF Promoters who are planning to purchase an IBL Team. This was great for the ISCF Promoters, but what about those who are not ISCF Promoters? Well, for those non ISCF Promoters, your prayers have been answered... This week a sponsor stepped in and told the IBL that for every team that registers, he would pay $1,000 of their Team fees, making their fees only $1,500 now.

"This is the way we had hoped things would start working out" said IBL Commissioner Steve Fossum. "The more sponsors we can bring in to aid the League, the more successful it will be."

The funny thing here is that the sponsor has asked to remain anonymous. "I'm doing this to help the Amateur side of the sport" he said. "The concept of the IBL sounds exciting and I'm just proud to be in a financial situation where I can step in and help."

The Team registration deadline for the 2008 IBL Season is March 1st and with this reduction of fees it will surly make it easier for Teams to form. Those Teams who have already registered at the $2,500 fee will be sent a check for $1,000 later this week.

For those looking to Register for an IBL Team, go to the IBL Team Registration Page that can be found by clicking HERE.

I Have A Team
But I Don't Know How To Promote
Or Don't Have A Venue...

No worries here...
We have had several trainers tell us they can put an IBL Team together but they have never promoted before. Well, we have taken some time to look into a remedy for this issue and have come up with some very helpful ideas.

These various scenarios will be brought into play after we see how many IBL Teams are registered after March 1st. If you can't promote your own events, many of the other IBL Promoters can and well, and share the income with you. So if this is stopping you, it shouldn't any longer...

What If MMA Is Not Legal In My State?
Can I Still Form An IBL Team?

So you have a Team, Sponsors ready and even a Team name... Then you discover AMATEUR MMA is not legal in your home state. Well, don't feel you are alone. From our research, Amateur MMA is not legal in several states. In fact, although the ISCF is based in California, very few people know who they are because Amateur MMA is not legal here and the Pro MMA side is regulated by the State Commission. Imagine that... The largest MMA sanctioning body in the world is unknown in its home state... That's pretty funny. In fact, if you glance at the entire Western Region, the ISCF has only been consistent in one state, Idaho.

To see what states do not allow amateur MMA, see the black states in this image, click HERE.

So, what can you do? Well, you have several options if Amateur MMA is not legal in your state.

  1. You can hold your home event in another State where Amateur MMA is legal.
  2. You can hold your home event on a Military Base which is Federal land, NOT overseen by your State Commission.
  3. You can hold your home event on an Indian Reservation which is also Federal land, NOT overseen by your State Commission.
  4. Or allow another IBL Team in a State where Amateur MMA is legal to hold your home event

As the saying goes, "There are no problems... Only IDEA Problems." Here in California the ISCF is working with the State Commission to try and get Amateur MMA legalized. The topic will be heard at the next California State Commission meeting but that's not until April. Because of this, if we do have any California Teams, they may not be registered until after that meeting. That's "IF" the state votes at that meeting to allow amateur MMA. They may easily take it under consideration to think about and not vote on it until the next meeting which isn't until June, well after the first IBL season has started.

So because of this, potential California IBL Teams are back to the 4 choices offered above. If Amateur MMA is not past in California, those may be their only choices... Forever.

What is sad about the issue of Amateur MMA is the fact that States without Amateur MMA are actually bringing a greater safety risk to MMA Fighters who can't learn their skill as an Amateur. Instead, they are thrust into the Pro ranks and expected to begin as a Pro Fighter. The Safety issues here speak for themselves. The question is, WHY would ANY State not allow an AMATEUR Sport? Is it lack of officials to go around? Is it the always argued money issue, that States receive more tax income from a Pro event than an Amateur event? Or are there other reasons unknown to those in MMA?

In some states, the legalization of MMA came with a price... A price that some times brings up safety issues. Some states legalized Amateur MMA but instead of allowing it to be the sport it is, they added in "Their" own so called "Safety Rules". Some of which make a fight more dangerous, such as the mandatory "Headgear rule." Others have simply "Invented" rules they feel should apply to Amateur MMA such as the knock down rule - standing 8 count. Still, despite the rule limitations, at least they allow Amateur MMA, which is something Amateur MMA fighters in the States below would be extremely happy about. Here are the States where Amateur MMA is NOT Legal:

  1. California
  2. Colorado
  3. District of Columbia Washington DC
  4. Florida
  5. Maine
  6. Maryland
  7. New York
  8. North Carolina - There is rumor that Amateur MMA is now legal in North Carolina.
  9. Pennsylvania
  10. South Carolina
  11. Tennessee
  12. Utah
  13. West Virginia

POTENTIAL IBL OWNERS...
The IBL Does Not Need Everything!

A special note to potential IBL Team Owners...
You do not have to submit your entire roster by the Team Registration Deadline of March 1st. In fact, all the IBL needs from you by March 1st is your completed IBL Team Application - Registration Form that tells what city and state you will represent and your registration fees to confirm your regional position.

Teams will have plenty of time between March 1st and the beginning of the IBL Season to complete their Team Roster, Team Logo and even their official IBL Team Name.

First Year is Best
For New IBL Owners...

Another special note to potential IBL Team Owners...
Those who become a part of the inaugural IBL Season will be locked in to some special benefits. To begin with, the IBL Team Ownership Fee for the 2009 IBL Season will be more than the inaugural 2008 year. However, all 2008 IBL Team Owners will continue to pay the same IBL Team Ownership Fee for a minimum of 3 years. in addition, first year IBL Owners will also be given much larger percentages of IBL Merchandise sales and several other additions to be announced soon.

It is the plan of the IBL to have an annual League meeting among all the Team Owners. At this meeting, the Team Owners will discuss various issues about the IBL such as Future Goals, Marketing, Awards, Promotions, League Rules and Regulations, Sponsorship, TV/Media and the Financial Status of the IBL to determine if IBL Team Ownership Fees should go up or remain the same until the next IBL Owners meeting.

Another Special Page!

The IBL has added a page for fighters looking to be on a Team. Over the last couple of weeks several fighters have been looking for Teams that have openings. The IBL cannot promise all fighters listed on this page will get on a Team, but at least their name is out there so Owners know about them. In the last post, this was called a "Fighters Available" page.

As the Teams Owners and Coaches are announced, some of the Teams will offer try-outs. However, most Teams already have all their fighters. More IBL News coming later, but for now... "Battle ON!"

Hang On Everyone...
The IBL Is Gaining
MORE SPEED!

The IBL is catching on fast and the eyes are looking this way....! All with VERY LITTLE marketing of the first legit Amateur MMA Team Fight League. Who would have ever thought that such a league would have such a BANG before hitting any of the main media sources!

Although the official announcement of the IBL happened late on Friday, January 18th, the Official IBL website was not launched until after 8:PM on Wednesday, January 23rd. What has surprised everyone here is the massive interest in the IBL. From Thursday, January 24th up until yesterday, Tuesday, February 5th (13 days) the IBL site has had over 1,200 "Unique" visitors to the site and over 33,000 hits. Yes... "Thirty Three THOUSAND!" Already the sites "Alexa" numbers have jumped from a first week in the millions to already under 900,000 (862,291). In the last week the site dipped even lower to 647,238. Alexa.com is a web rating site that ranks web site ratings. The lower the number, the more traffic the site is getting.

Surprisingly a lot of interest has come from outside the USA as well. So far individuals from 14 other countries have e-mailed us here at the IBL Headquarters asking if the IBL plans to expand outside the USA immediately or if the growth plan is slower. Those inquiries have come from the USA neighboring countries of Canada and Mexico of course, that could easily be added into the IBL mix. However, the surprise to the IBL has been the interest from the countries of England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Ghana, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands and Hungary. The biggest surprise was the inquiries received from Japan. Seems they have a big desire to start up an IBL League in Asia. Sweden has shown a big interest in the IBL too. So much that 9% of the IBL site traffic worldwide has come from there. The Alexa rank for the IBL site in the USA is 272,541 while in Sweden it's at 140,700. "I'm not sure how fast we want to grow outside the USA." Said IBL Commissioner Steve Fossum. "This has exploded far beyond our original growth plans and Steve (Crawford, IBL VP of Operations) and myself have found ourselves overwhelmed with inquiry e-mails now and we are still in the Team building stages."

The IBL has now posted a "Question Answer ( Q & A )" page (Click HERE) to answer a lot of the general questions they have been receiving. Added soon will be a "Fighters Available" page. This page will list some of the Amateur fighters looking to get on IBL Teams. As the Teams Owners and Coaches are announced, some of the Teams will offer try-outs. However, most Teams already have all their fighters. More IBL News coming later, but for now... "Battle ON!"

IBL
GROWING FASTER
THAN EXPECTED

Another Weightclass Is Added
And First Season Looking Exciting!

There has been a lot going on with the IBL since it was launched back on Friday, January 18th. Just over two weeks old and the ball is rollin much faster than expected. One of the big additions is the adding of another weightclass. This was due to High Demand of requests by the smaller fighters in the Featherweight division. This makes 6 weightclasses for the IBL which are

  1. Featherweight, 135 lbs. to 145 lbs.
  2. Lightweight, 145 lbs. to 155 lbs.
  3. Welterweight, 155 lbs. to 170 lbs.
  4. Middleweight, 170 lbs. to 185 lbs.
  5. Light Heavyweight, 185 lbs. to 205 lbs.
  6. Heavyweight, 205 lbs. to 265 lbs.

Of course this adds the question of "What if there is a 3-3 tie at the end of a Team competition?" Well within a couple of weeks the IBL will announce the exciting way a Tie will be broken by the two Teams if it occurs.

In addition, the IBL is also creating ways to allow Team Owners to host more events. Various plans include Team Tryout Events as well as competitions among the Teams Alternate fighters.

The IBL Owners page has also been updated which includes an Owners Application. ( IBL Owners Page ) As the IBL approaches the March 1st Deadline for Team Registration, already there are several teams established in Missouri along with Virginia, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa and Kansas. Additional interest is coming from North Carolina, New Mexico, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Tennessee and several other States. "This may be bigger than we have plans for, which is a good thing as long as we can keep up with the demand, which is actually a good thing." Said IBL VP of Operations Steve Crawford. "We are excited about the response for Teams and Steve Crawford has been doing a great job to get the word out" said IBL Commissioner Steve Fossum. "We haven't even started our initial advertising for the league and already we have Teams established."

For the first year the IBL is offering initial Team owners special incentives on things such as IBL merchandise licensing, non IBL event Sanctioning discounts, Graphic design work and several other incentives. As Teams are added, the new Amateur Fight League keeps attracting more and more intention. "It's about time someone took the Amateur Seriously." Says Fossum. "Wait till they see them do Battle!"

New IBL Website Launched!

Tomorrow the IBL will make an announcement in regards to Team Ownership requirements. Some of this info will be sent by e-mail only to those who have either committed or those who have shown interest in the IBL.

Since the IBL became public knowledge last Friday night, the response has been "Overwhelming!" It looks to be exactly what we thought it would be...
"The NEXT BIG THING!"

OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE IBL LAUNCH...

FRIDAY, January 18th, 2008, AT 9:50 PM, PT

THE NEXT BIG THING...
We Present To You, The

International BATTLE League!

After a successful year in working with the Professional MMA League, the IFL ( International Fight League) the ISCF has been swamped with requests from literally hundreds of Amateur Fighters and Trainers have been asking the ISCF to create something like the IFL "Team/league" concept, but for Amateurs. Well Fighters.... Your prayers and wishes have been answered. We would like to introduce to you the "Next Big Thing" for MMA, The

IBL
International Battle League

The First Real Amateur MMA Team Fight League!

Already there is a lot of excitement about the new IBL. "I was so excited to hear that the ISCF was working to implement an amateur fight league." said Joe Taylor, (R) President of Combat Sports International - www.combatsports.com) "This is long overdue as it is a must that the amateur athletes are given a first class platform to display their talents. I am 100% confident that Steve Fossum and the ISCF will provide such a stage for these disciplined athletes. Combat Sports International is proud to be given the opportunity to support such a noble venture."

"Even before this official press release was made there has already been a load of interest." said Steve Crawford, (R) VP of Operations with the new IBL. "In just speaking with several fighters, trainers and promoters, the IBL has had requests for teams from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, Virginia, Florida, Arkansas, Indiana and North Carolina. We have also had several top names voice their support such as Pat Miletich, Bas Rutten and Keith Hackney."

Even the IFL is supportive of the IBL knowing it will be a great place to scout potential pro talent for the Pro IFL League. All rules and regulations of the IBL will be sanctioned by the ISCF.

"Our goal in creating the IBL is not to compete with the IFL." Said ISCF President Steve Fossum (R). "We still have a very good relationship with them and of course competing on a pro level would be burning a loyal bridge. If anything, the new IBL Amateur League will be a feeder organization to Professional Promotions such as the IFL."

Of course, the main thing that sets the IBL apart from the IFL is the fact that the IBL is an AMATEUR Team League and although there are other things that are the same, there are also a lot of differences.

The weight classes are the same;

  • Lightweight, 145 lbs. to 155 lbs.
  • Welterweight, 155 lbs. to 170 lbs.
  • Middleweight, 170 lbs. to 185 lbs.
  • Light Heavyweight, 185 lbs. to 205 lbs.
  • Heavyweight, 205 lbs. to 265 lbs.

The Team concept and competition will be the same, as each League Event will feature 4 Teams, where 2 Teams square off against each other for ranking points, wins and loses. However, the differences of the IBL Amateur League may work to its overall advantage and future success.

In the IBL, all the Teams will be "Teamed Owned" instead of owned by the League (IBL). Team Owners do not have to be directly involved in the sport of MMA. In some cases the Team Owner will be the same as the Team Coach. However, some Teams will have a separate Owner and Coach. There is no limit to the number of Coaches and or Trainers each Team can have. Each Team will be responsible for their own expenses which means they will be allowed to seek and attain their own sponsorship for expense funding and or needed equipment. Team members could be fighters all from 1 gym/school or a combined group from the city or region the team is based out of. It will be best if all the Team members live close to each other to assure unity of the Team, especially in Team practices and decision making. This concept clearly separates the IBL/ISCF Leadership from the TEAMS just as in other successful Team Leagues such as the NFL or NBA. The only difference here is that this is an AMATEUR League.

Teams will field 5 starters and 5 alternates. Each Team will be responsible for hosting 1 home event a season. Scheduled events will be held every 30 days or every 4-5 weeks, depending on venue bookings. The plan is to have a 4 month season that will provide 1 home event for each Team.

The regions of the IBL are pretty basic. The League will be divided into 3 Conferences (Western, Central and Eastern) and 3 Divisions in each Conference (Northern, Central and Southern). At the end of the 4 month season, each region of each conference will each have a Champion. There will also be 1 Wild Card Team which is the next best team of all 3 Divisions who will round out the needed 4 Teams for the Conference playoffs. The conference playoffs will take place on two events, 30 days apart (To provide plenty of rest and recovery time in case a fighter from one team is stopped by strikes for example)

Once a Champion is determined from the 3 Conferences, the League will select the best performing Team from the Playoffs to be added in as the Wild Card Team to make up the IBL Final 4 Championships.

The IBL will be responsible for hosting the IBL Final 4 Championship event. At the Tournament, after weigh-ins, a hat draw will determine the parings of the first 2 match ups and the first 10 fights along with which Teams will compete first. After the first 10 fights, on the SAME NIGHT, the final two winning Teams will meet for the IBL Championship. Here is where it ads a little twist. The winning "Fighters" will each receive an IBL Championship Belts. The Winning TEAM will receive a Championship Trophy and other Championship Awards such as individual Championship Rings, Plaques, Jackets and other things.

After the IBL Final 4 Championships, the IBL will host the IBL Grand Prix which will be a match-up of the top 10 fighters (2 from each weight class) to compete for an even more prestigious belt, the IBL Grand Prix Belt.

There is a lot more we will be announcing about the IBL so keep watch here on the IBL News pages.

Right now one of the next goals of the IBL is to confirm the first 4 Teams that will kick off the start of the IBL at this years ISCF World Classic in Cedar Rapids Iowa at the US Cellular Center Arena! These 4 Teams will compete in a special Saturday Night Feature Event during the Tournament weekend.

So if you are interested in seeing it LIVE, we hope to see you in Cedar Rapids the weekend of May 2nd, 3rd and 4th where you will not only see the BEST Amateur MMA Fighters competing in an open Tournament format to be the BEST Amateur MMA Fighter in the World, but also, the start of the "Next Big Thing for MMA!" The

INTERNATIONAL BATTLE LEAGUE!
